Katsos W., Week 1

Hi everyone. I'm Anthony "Wyatt" Katsos '17. I'm a senior Business Administration major with a specialization in marketing. I'm from Bluffdale, Utah. I'm a four year member of the Men's Lacrosse team at Elmira College. My hobbies include: snowboarding, skateboarding, wake boarding, drawing, painting, comedy, and music. I'm interested in this class because I'm interested in learning the marketing/business aspects of performing arts (such as stand-up comedy and music).  The picture attached was taken and edited by myself in Lake Powell, Utah. I look forward to getting to know all of you!

McNabb, J., Week 1

McNabb, J., Week 1

Hey, Everyone!

I'm Joseph McNabb. I'm a freshman  here at Elmira, taking Entertainment, Media and Sports Marketing for my Term 3 credits this year as a Business Administration major.
I attended Port Byron High School and played on the Port Byron/Union Springs baseball team.

I am taking this class because I am very interested in sports, entertainment and media as well as the business and work that goes into it off the field or behind the scenes. In the picture above are some of my favorite teams, the Boston Red Sox, Buffalo Bills, and a team most of you probably haven't hear of before, the Auburn Doubledays. The team's mascot is named after Abner Doubleday, who is considered to be the man who made baseball popular. Their pennant is hanging on my wall because I live about 2 miles away from their home field, Falcon Park in the city of Auburn. I am hoping to work at the park doing field maintenance this summer.

I am also very intrigued by other sports media such as TV broadcasting and sports talk radio.

In other forms of media and entertainment,  my favorite movies are "Interstellar" and "The Revenant" and my favorite artists are Jon Billion, J. Cole and Logic.

Stay tuned in for more information on my Term 3 experience with Professor Wolfe in Entertainment, Media and Sports Marketing

Thanks!
-Joseph McNabb

Isaacs, M., Week 1

Hi everyone!

I am Marissa Isaacs from Baldwinsville, New York. I am currently a junior at Elmira College where I am a triple major in criminal justice, psychology and human services. At Elmira college, I am a member of the nationally ranked competitive cheerleading team, as well as two honor societies, Phi Eta Sigma and Psi Chi.

In my free time from being a student athlete I love to go hiking. Each hike is a new adventure and new view. I also enjoy cardio kickboxing because staying in shape for cheerleading is a must, and this is a fun way to do so. I am someone who will never turn down the opportunity to travel to new and old places, no matter how near or far.

I spend my summers working for the National Cheerleaders Association, which not only gives me the opportunity to help young athletes grow and develop in the sport I love, but our overall goal is to become role model for such individuals, teaching them to be both a good athlete and a better person.

Upon graduation, I will continue my education through either graduate or law school to help achieve my future dreams specifically within the criminal justice field. Learning about my life is only the beginning, make sure to come back to learn more as I progress within my term 3 sports marketing class! I am sure you will not want to miss it!

Hill, S., Week 1

Hi everyone,

I'm Sarah from Naples, NY. I attend Elmira College where I am a sophomore. I am apart of the women's tennis and softball team. I study Business with a concentration in Marketing and Management.

When I return home for the summer I work at a marina on Canandaigua Lake. I also have my license for cosmetology which allows me to work in a salon. When I am not working I like to hike, hang out on the lake, spend time with my friends from high school and my dog Gunner.

After I graduate, I plan on continuing my studies in graduate school or starting a career with a job I love. I hope to move somewhere warm in the future, preferably on a lake or the ocean.

Be sure to tune back next week to find out how the first week of my Term 3 marketing class went!

Cheers!

Gardner, W., Week 1

Hello everyone, my name is Will Gardner and I am a junior from Olean, NY. I am a Business Administration major, specializing in both Marketing and Management. Outside of academics at Elmira College, I work for the Men's Basketball team as a student manager, as well as the Sports Information department as a student worker. During my summers and other breaks, I work at Pool Mart in Olean in sales, retail, and deliveries. I spent a lot of my free time in Buffalo, NY and enjoy being outdoors, traveling, and going to concerts and sporting events. In high school, I spent a large portion of my senior year learning about Graphic Design and Audio/Visual Technologies, which led to my strong interest in Marketing, especially regarding Entertainment, Media, and Sports.

On New Year's Eve in 2013, I spent the night filming in the cold, Western New York winter for Holiday Valley, a ski resort in Ellicottville, NY. After approximately 6 hours of collecting footage, the editing process began at the break of dawn on the first day of 2014 and concluded roughly 18 hours later in order to meet the deadline. As stressful as the experience was, I very much enjoyed it and seeing the final result was very satisfying. I aspire to be involved in the creative aspects of marketing for a place like Staples Center in Los Angeles, where sports, music, and other entertainment is constantly being promoted through videos and graphics.
